Charlotte Murrant won a Silver medal for her floral jockey silk for the chelsea Young Florist Of The Year competition in 2011. The design had to be constructed in a way that it could be worn and be at least two third fresh flower/foliage. She created her frame work with chicken wire and lined the interior with felt, making it comfortable for the wearer.
The main body of the jockey silk was created by using the technique of weaving lily grass through the wirework skeleton. Bold contrasting yellow santini Chrysanthemum was used to neatly base the arms and collar of the design and lastly intricate pink stars were created with Phalaenopsis orchids, Kalenchoe and Stachys leaves for a fabulous texture and areas of interest. For added depth little touches of wool and miniature star mirrors were used within the stars.
